Liability

The Apeldoorn International Four Day March Foundation does not accept any responsibility and/or financial liability for damage incurred due to accidents and/or illness, nor for theft of goods of participants, regardless of the cause. By registering participants or the parents/guardians of minor participants indicate that they participate at their own risk, declaring that they are familiar with all rules and regulations pertaining to this walking event and accept them without reservation. In addition, the participant declares that he or she will follow all instructions of the legal authorities, traffic controllers and organisation staff. If due to any circumstance(s) the event cannot proceed (further), there is no entitlement to restitution of expenses or refund of registration fees paid.

Decision-making

In all cases in which these regulations do not apply or supplementary or different measures have to be taken, the board of the Apeldoorn International Four Day March Foundation shall decide.

Participation and daily distances

4 days 12 km, 20 km, 30 km, 40 km or 50 km; 3 days 12 km, 20 km, 30 km, 40 km or 50 km; 2 days 12 km, 20 km, 30 km, 40 km or 50 km; 1 day 12 km, 20 km, 30 km, 40 km or 50 km. A distance is binding for the number of days once chosen. If you walk less than 4 days, you are obliged to indicate the days chosen. Beware: the distance chosen cannot be changed after reception of the confirmation card for participation. Participation in the daily distances of 20, 30 and 40 km is open to everyone who is 12 years or older on 31 December 2018. For the 12 km, one must be 10 years or older on 31 December 2018. For the 50 km, the participant must be 16 years or older on 31 December 2018. In case of doubt as to the proper age or other false declarations the foundation board has the right to refuse registration. Participation for one, two or three days is also possible.

Maximum number of registrations per distance

Due to the unique character of the routes of the Apeldoorn Four Day March the number of registrations per distance has been restricted to a maximum. These numbers are: • 12 km: 750; • 20 km: 2,000; • 30 km: 1,000; • 40 km: 500; • 50 km: 250.

Registration term

The registration term will close on Friday 29 June 2018 at midnight, or as soon as the maximum number of registrations is reached for the various distances. Registration is accepted as soon as the amount owed has been credited to the account of the Stichting Internationale Vierdaagse Apeldoorn.

Under no circumstances can registration fees be refunded in case of non-participation. You can register on the website www. 4daagseapeldoorn.nl or in writing with a completely filled out registration form which can be obtained at the secretariat.

Personal registration

Registration is personal and not transferable. In case of doubt the organisation has the right to have the accuracy proven or, in case of refusal, to exclude the person concerned from (further) participation.

Groups

Groups are required to use the registration form that can be obtained from the Foundation. A group consists of at least 11 people including the leader, of at least 18 years old, all participating on the same distance. In case of more than one distance, a minimum of 11 people including the leader applies per distance. In case of smaller numbers, registration is to be individual. The registration form must be sent to the administration of the Apeldoorn International Four Day March Foundation, Warenargaarde 103, 7329 GB Apeldoorn, Netherlands.

Foreign participants

Participants living abroad can register through the website or via submission of an appropriately completed registration form that can be obtained from the secretariat. They must personally transfer the amount owed to the bank account mentioned above. As a special service, participants from outside the Eurozone can pay cash at the start. The registration form must be sent to the administration of the Apeldoorn International Four Day March Foundation, Warenargaarde 103, 7329 GB Apeldoorn, Netherlands.

Check-in

Check-in must take place on Monday 9th July 2018 between 1 P.M. and 4 P.M. or Tuesday 10th July 2018 before the start time of the distance concerned, in the sports complex of v.v. Victoria boys, Berghuizerweg 153, 7312 SN Apeldoorn. Upon surrender of the registration document, the start/control card and the programme booklet will be issued.

Start/control cards

On the day of check-in each participant will receive a start/ control card for the march day. Upon deregistration after the march this card is taken in and replaced by a start/control card for the next day. The start/control card is punched at the start of each march day. The start/control card must be shown personally when the routes are checked.

Start times:

• 12 km: between 08:30 A.M. and 10:30 A.M.;
• 20 km: between 07:30 A.M. and 10:00 A.M.;
• 30 km: between 07:00 A.M. and 09:00 A.M.;
• 40 km: between 06:30 A.M. and 07:30 A.M.;
• 50 km: between 06:30 A.M. and 07:00 A.M.

Deregistration:

You can deregister between 11:00 A.M. and 5:30 P.M. in the administration tent on the grounds of v.v. Victoria Boys. In case of deregistration after 5:30 P.M. you are considered to have dropped out.

Personal medal For each participant that accomplishes four days is, if desired, available a medal.

March kilometre booklet and IVV cards

March kilometre booklets need not be handed in. A sticker for these booklets is issued after completion of the third march day. If desired, you can provide this booklet with a stamp yourself. IVV cards and the like are stamped on request. A separate IVV stamp is issued for each day.

Medical examination

No medical declaration is required for participation. Participation is at one’s own risk.

Medical Service

The polyclinic of the Medical Service is located in the dressing rooms of v.v. Victoria Boys. Emergency stations have been set up along the routes. Instructions from the physicians and medical service staff must be followed unconditionally. If a participant decides not to continue for medical reasons, the start/control card must be returned to the organisation.

Routes

Varied routes have been plotted for each day. Main roads are avoided where possible and the scenic forest and heather paths so abundantly present around Apeldoorn are frequently used. The routes are indicated with arrows. A route map is included in the programme booklet. Service dogs in function are allowed, if on a leash and wearing a vest clearly showing it is a service dog.

Attendants

Attendants of clubs and groups may not be part of the group during the marches. Attendants must follow the route as indicated in the itinerary and the must not hamper participants. On a couple of resting places only vehicles, tents etc. of the organisation are only permitted, not of attendants of groups, clubs, individuals and others. Instructions of organisation staff at the resting places must be followed unconditionally.

Clothing

Comfortable (sports) wear is recommended, with the upper body covered at all times.

Resting places

There are several restaurant facilities along the route. In addition, support vehicles of the organisation are present on several spots along the way.

Walking speed

The time available for completing the routes is sufficient for walking on a relaxed speed. Respect the fact that not everyone has the same speed as you have. So make space for people to pass if necessary and pass only if the paths allow it.

Music and pets

Playing sound equipment audibly to the other participants on the routes is not permitted. Taking pets with you on the routes is not permitted either. Service dogs in function are allowed, if on a leash and wearing a vest clearly showing it is a service dog.

Nordic Walking sticks

In view of the paths used and inconvenience for other participants, the use of Nordic Walking sticks is not permitted.

Parking

There is sufficient parking space around the grounds of v.v. Victoria Boys. You are kindly requested not to park in residential areas. Instructions from the organisation must be followed. Illegally parked vehicles can be towed away. The organisation is not responsible for this.

Bicycle parking

There is sufficient space for parking bikes. You must follow the instructions from the organisation.

Use of image

Participants agree with the use of their image in print, film, video etc. for promotional activities of the Apeldoorn Four Days March and the Koninklijke Wandel Bond Nederland (the Dutch Royal Walking Association) without being entitled to any financial compensation.
